All about the role

As the Country Finance Lead, you will manage all aspects of controlling and reporting for the local market – including the platform entity, logistics and intermediate holding entity. That means ensuring the provision of necessary information and input to the Group Accounting and Controlling teams, connecting the Regional Financial Director and local Country Manager.

Managing the input from the FD, you will implement their targets on a local level, ensuring that budgets, forecasts and any other targets are reflected in the forecasting system and reported back to the group in a timely manner. You’re also able to support the Shared Service Center (SSC) team, to ensure that all activities are done in accordance with Group IFRS and local GAAP requirements.

In this wide-ranging role, you will also be responsible for:

  • Overseeing people in a variety of roles that can range from performance analysis and advice to tax support
  • Handling local statutory accounts & signing off the local P&L and BL reconciliations, as well as providing an accurate reflection of our performance in Portugal
  • Ensuring high quality and compliance from a financial perspective for the local legal entity
  • Resolving any accounting or reporting issues and escalating any issues to the regional FD when necessary
  • Signing off on the monthly, quarterly and annual numbers & all monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supporting the Country Manager and local management team by providing them with regular performance and financial insights
  • Engaging with central finance teams and regional FD when relevant, using their guidance to produce a bottom-up budget and forecast plus commentary
  • Acting as a local business partner, providing advice and guidance to the local management team
  • Managing the Risk register, supporting internal audits and the Control Framework, working in a matrix with Group Internal Audit and Group Controlling to achieve this
  • Working in partnership with the group finance systems team to ensure that the ERP and any other underlying accounting packages are used appropriately

Can you deliver…

Here are the skills and experience we need from you:

  • In-depth experience with the Portuguese market
  • Good knowledge of various tools, namely ERP, Onestream, Anaplan and Excel
  • Experience with Workday is an advantage
  • Natural leadership skills and the ability to balance differing stakeholder interests
  • Willing to occasionally travel to our Amsterdam HQ
  • Fluent Portuguese and English (written & spoken) and excellent communication skills
